Then call today for a free career counseling session on Wednesday, March 23rd at Wesley United Methodist Church, 516 2nd Ave in Vinton. You’ll meet with Bonnie Hansen from Kirkwood College and examine your interests, skills, abilities and personality style.

VS Middle School choirs to perform Thursday

       Vinton-Shellsburg Middle School 7th & 8th Grade Choirs will perform in concert on Thursday, March 17 at 7:00 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Students from the four curricular choirs and the VSMS Show Choir will perform. Small ensembles and soloists from the middle school and high school will round out the program of songs from the musical stage.

Public invited to meet Branstad today in Vinton

     Iowa Governor Terry Brandstad will be bringing his "Jobs for Iowa Tour" to Vinton today, Wednesday, March 9, 2011,  from 2:30pm - 3:30pm in the school board meeting room on the south side of V/S Middle School (The old high school) at 1502 C Avenue. The public is invited. Many school personnel and even a few students plan to attened.

Benton County Early Childhood Iowa Plans Child Development Fair In Vinton

  Benton County Early Childhood Iowa is co-sponsoring a Child Development Fair in Vinton on April 13th from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. with the Grant Wood Area Education Agency.  The event will be held at the Skate and Activity Center at 1703 C Avenue.   Families from Vinton and the surrounding communities will be provided free vision, hearing and developmental screenings, access to available services in the community for families and young children, as well as free handouts and gifts.

Firearms classes set

  A new law which went into effect on January 1, 2011 requires the Sheriff of each county to issue a permit to carry weapons to any person 21 years of age or older who is not addicted to alcohol, not likely to use a weapon unlawfully or in such a manner as would endanger the person’s self or others, is not a felon, and has not been convicted of a serious or aggravated misdemeanor in the past three years.

'Witnesses' comes to Wesley Methodist, March 13

  The theatrical production, Witnesses will be performed at Wesley United Methodist Church, 516 2nd Avein Vinton on Sunday, March 13 at  4:30pm.  FREE admission.  The one-man play, written by Curt Cloninger, features professional actor, performer and speaker, Jonathan P. Swenson.           In this dramatic and very personal performance, Swenson portrays eight different characters (historical and imagined) as each responds to Jesus.
